Comeback on the Cards
Cricket: Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood is said to return to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) camp for the rest of the 2025 season of the IPL. He was previously not expected to return until after the tournament due to a shoulder injury, but the latest positive news bodes well for his timeline.
“We don’t have the exact travel dates yet, but we’re working on that to finalise his return,” said a source close to the team.
A Key Player for RCB
Hazlewood has also been in great form this season with 18 wickets from his 10 matches. Chris Jordan’s Display sixes him in the third position in the tally of highest wicket-takers. His return will see RCB reclaim their pace spearhead as they chase their maiden IPL title.
The availability of Chhetri will be a massive boost for the Bengaluru-based side ahead of their final run into the season.
Balancing IPL & WTC
The 33-year-old pacer is also part of Australia’s squad for the World Test Championship final. Australia will face South Africa at Lord’s starting June 11, aiming to become the first team to win the WTC title twice.
Despite juggling international commitments, Hazlewood’s return shows his commitment to both country and franchise.
IPL Set to Resume on May 17
IPL 2025 was put on hold due to rising cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. However, with things settling down, the tournament will resume on May 17, with RCB set to face Kolkata Knight Riders at their home ground — M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Out of the remaining matches, 13 league games are still to be played. Six venues have been cleared to host the remainder of the season
Aussies Head Home Amid Uncertainty
Many Australian players, coaches, and media professionals had flown back home over the past weekend due to the uncertainty surrounding the tournament. However, with clarity returning, franchises are making fresh plans to bring back their overseas stars.
What This Means for RCB
RCB’s chances to secure a spot in the playoffs look brighter with Hazlewood’s return. His presence strengthens their bowling attack and boosts the morale of the team.
Fans can now look forward to seeing one of the season’s top bowlers back in action as RCB continues its hunt for glory.
