Trouble for Kavya Maran’s SRH: Star Players Likely to Miss Rest of IPL 2025
The second half of IPL 2025 is about to begin, but things aren’t looking too bright for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and their owner Kavya Maran. From star player exits to venue changes, here’s everything fans need to know.
Australian Players May Not Return
As the IPL 2025 resumes this Saturday, SRH might be without their key Australian players. Cricket Australia has left the decision up to individual players after the season was temporarily suspended due to political tensions following India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’.
This means Pat Cummins and Travis Head could choose not to return for the remaining games.
Pat Cummins Likely to Miss Remaining Matches
Pat Cummins, SRH’s captain and Australia’s Test skipper, is expected to start preparations for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against South Africa, scheduled to begin on June 11 in London. With such a major tournament coming up, Cummins may skip the rest of the IPL to focus on national duty.
Travis Head Also in Doubt
SRH opener Travis Head is another big name who might not return. Cricket Australia stated:
“We will support players in their individual decisions whether to return to India or not.”
This uncertainty has added to SRH’s woes ahead of their last few league matches.
No More Matches in Hyderabad
SRH fans in Hyderabad will miss out on seeing their team at home again this season. As per the revised IPL 2025 schedule released by BCCI, their final home fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 25 has been shifted to Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
SRH Out of Playoff Race
To make matters worse, the Pat Cummins-led SRH is already out of the playoff race. With just 7 points from 11 matches, the team has no mathematical chance of qualifying for the top 4 this season.
Cummins Was SRH’s ₹18 Crore Retention
SRH had retained Pat Cummins for ₹18 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Despite the team’s overall performance, Cummins delivered individually, picking up 13 wickets in 11 matches—second only to Harshal Patel for SRH this season. He even grabbed three wickets in their last game against Delhi Capitals, which was later washed out due to rain.
Final Thoughts
The road ahead looks tough for Kavya Maran and Sunrisers Hyderabad. With star players possibly unavailable, venue changes, and no playoff hopes, fans might have to wait till IPL 2026 for a stronger comeback.
