IPL 2026 latest confirmed list of ruled-out and unavailable players

The run up to IPL 2026 has not been smooth. With a packed international timetable and the recent T20 World Cup taking it’s toll, various franchises are going into the season with a fractured squad. From Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) losing their key pacers to Rajasthan Royalties (RR) missing a marquee all rounder, injuries and withdrawals are already influencing the team strategies.

KKR got the hardest blow

Revealed: Why Has BCCI Not Released IPL 2026 Schedule Yet | CREX

None of the teams have suffered more than KKR as Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, and Mustafizur Rahman are all unavailable. This washes away a big part of their pace attack. Although their replacements, Muzarabani and Saini bring depth, the lack of continuity may be a blow to initial momentum.

Mid-Season Availability Issues

Certain players are not ruled out completely but will miss some vital early matches:

  •  Matheesha Pathirana (KKR) - will return mid-April (calf strain)

  •  Pat Cummins (SRH) - back issue.

  •  Josh Hazlewood (RCB) - yet to return to full fitness.

These delayed returns could influence team combinations in the opening weeks.

Other Important Absences

Unavailability of players is not always due to injury:

  •  Ben Duckett (DC) has gone off to work on his red-ball form.

  •  Josh Inglis (LSG) will be out the whole season because of his wedding.

  •  Lockie Ferguson (PBKS) is not available early on due to personal reasons.

Impact on IPL 2026

The ripple effect is huge. Teams are tapping into replacement pools, even pulling players from leagues like PSL. Spencer Johnson, Dasun Shanaka and Blessing Muzarabani now have their golden chance to shine.

In a tournament where squad depth often defines success, IPL 2026 might be decided as much by replacements as by superstars.
